When Megan applied for a position on the 2020 model team last spring I knew I had a kindred spirit in her! Her application which contained "get to know you" questions was literally a novel when she turned it in! Here was an intellegent, kind and very thoughtful, involved in her community young woman! And honestly I couldn't wait to meet her!

As with all my models I truly enjoyed getting to travel with and get to know Megan and her sweet Mom Melissa! Her senior shoot was another that wasn't without challenges to get done as she's very involved with sports and school activities and the weather was of course a factor! Megan was insistant that there be spring flowers in her photos and mother nature didn't disappoint as we got lucky to have the almond orchards in the valley blooming the week we chose for her SF shoot. It was a beautiful blessing for sure. Her hair and makeup is by Kelsey Lane.

Here's the story of Megan's senior model shoot experience and how she's feeling about the world today.

Jenn: Megan what location did you chose and why?

Megan: The majority of my shoot was in SF, more specifically, The Botanical Gardens, Palace of Fine Arts, Baker Beach and then of course the orchards we found on our way to SF. I chose SF because I wanted a lot of variety in my photos.

Jenn: Where did you purchase your outfits for the shoot?

Megan: Most of the clothes I wore were already in my wardrobe. My blue prom dress was from Amazon, the white dress I wore on the beach was from Ross.

Jenn: What is your favorite memory of your shoot day?

Megan: There were so many! From the unplanned shoot in the orchard, to taking photos with strangers from India at the Palace of Fine Arts and everything in between. It was a very eventful day!

Jenn: What advice would you give to the class of 2021?

Megan: Live every moment! Everyone says it goes by fast and it does! But TRUST ME, it will be gone before you know it.

Jenn: Thinking back on your senior year before COVID19 hit, what is your favorite memory of the year?

Megan: From the moment my water polo team won our section championship game to the state championships. This period was a ride! Every early morning practice, every sore muscle, every weekend tournament, and every ounce of hard work, it all paid off!

Jenn: At this moment in time what are you most grateful for?

Megan: My team. Everyone says that their team becomes their family but I've never felt that amount of love and support for and from any group of people. It was the most intense rush of adrenaline and pure joy that I've ever felt.

Jenn: What are you currently watching to occupy your time?

Megan: I'm really not a TV or movie person. I've had a lot more time to get some home workouts in and some intense rounds of cards. :)

Jenn: When this pandemic is over and we are "released" to return into the world, what's the first thing you are going to do?

Megan: See my friends! If I knew that Friday would be the last time I'd see my little "family" I would have hugged them all a little tighter.

Kendall and I have been working together for about 3 years, she was part of my Teens of Summer Freshman - Junior years and I was so excited to see what location and theme she'd choose for her senior shoot. When we started talking about the possiblities Kendall was very clear that she wanted something unique, different than other locations previous seniors had chosen. We talked about the different possibilites and she wasn't going to settle for the "average". We finally agreed to head to San Francisco but to choose some unique spots in the city that I'd never photographed at before! Based off of favorite phots we found on Pinterest and Instagram we put together our day and headed off on the adventure. Kendall's hair and makeup were by Kelsey Lane.

Here's a recap of Kendall's senior shoot day and how she's feeling about senior year and life.

Jenn: Kendall, where did you choose to go for your senior shoot?

Kendall: San Francisco

Jenn: What inspired you to choose this location?

Kendall: I wanted something unique and also wanted to be at the beach. When planning my shoot the thing that inspired me the most was the swing location that we shot at with the view of the city.

Jenn: Where did you get your outfits for your shoot?

Kendall: I purchased most of my clothes on Amazon and The Buckle.

Jenn: What is your favorite memory of your senior shoot day?

Kendall: Being able to see different parts of SF that I'd never visited before.

Jenn: What advice would you give to the class of 2021?

Kendall: My best advice is when shopping for your shoot you can literally buy everything off of Amazon! lol My favorite memory of my senior year was my last homecoming wtih all the dress up days and my best friends.

Jenn: At this moment what are you most grateful for?

Kendall: I'm most grateful for my friends and family and that everyone is healthy.

Jenn: What is your favorite Disney treat?

Kendall: Churro!

Jenn: Who is your favorite Disney character?

Kendall: Belle

Jenn: What are you currently watching to occupy your time?

Kendall: Vampire diaries on Netflix

Jenn: When we are released from this pandemic what's the first thing you're going to do?

Kendall: Go spend time with my friends who I haven't seen since school got cancelled.

Jordyn's senior model shoot was a highly anticipated event! lol It had to be perfectly planned out because the window of time for the perfect sunflowers is a short one. And being over 3 hours away we had to make sure we were going at the perfect time, this could not be "redone". Never had I ever stood at the edge of a sunflower field before. The only way I can explain the magnitude of it is to compare it to standing on the beach at the edge of the ocean and looking out over the expansion of it! They just keep going...you can't see the end...a sea of bright yellow for as far as you can see! It's magnificent!

Reflecting on our year together in Jordyn's words;

Jenn: What location did you choose for your senior model shoot?

Jordyn: A sunflower field near UC Davis and we also took some photos on campus and in downtown Davis.

Jenn: Why did you choose this location? What about it inspired you?

Jordyn: I chose my location when I was a freshman! I talked with you about it when my brother Zach was getting his senior photos done and let you know I wanted to have something special and original. A truly beautiful shoot and it was! It was important to me to go there because of my love of sunflowers and wanted to have a different idea of showing my love of nature. I have seen lots of beautiful outdoor photos taken but I wanted mine to be a little different and the flower field was perfect in my eyes.

Jenn: Where did you purchase your outfits for your shoot?

Jordyn: I knew I wanted to wear the overalls and a cute white shirt because I had seen photos of other girls in sunflower fields with similar outfits and I liked that style. I got my overalls from American Eagle and my shirt I already had. I also wanted a long flowy sundress. Jennifer and I decided blue would be the best color with the bright yellow flowers and it was perfect! My dress was from Amazon. As for my other outfits I have no idea. lol They were casual clothes I had in my closet already.

Jenn: What's your favorite memory from your shoot day?

Jordyn: My favorite memory was being there at the sunflower field of course! It was so beautiful and hard to imagine if you haven't been to one. It is just crazy how many there were ant eh lighting was perfect. I was so happy to have it all work out perfectly! Leading up to the shoot we weren't sure if the flowers would be fully bloomed yet or how high they would stand so we were guessing. It turned out perfect!

Jenn: What advice would you give to the class of 2021?

Jordyn: My advice is to enjoy senior year and do EVERYTHING because it goes by so fast! And, you never know if it might go differently or possibly end early so make the most of it.  Advice to the 2021 models - have fun, meet new girls, wear cute outfits that you might not wear otherwise. Being the only Summerville model it was really fun to meet girls I have competed in sports against and also ones I would have never known without this experience. I'm grateful for that.

Jenn: Thinking back to this senior year BEFORE Covid19 hit what is your favorite memory or event?

Jordyn: My favorite memory of senior year was soccer season. I love my soccer family so much and being around the girls brings out the best in me. Also having my Dad as my coach is pretty cool and we have made many unforgettable memories together through the years.

Jenn: What are you most grateful for today?

Jordyn: Today I am most grateful for the experiences I have been able to have in high school. I am thankful for my school and the people there that I love and that love me and are truly trying to make the best of this situation for all the students and especially seniors.

Jenn: What's your favorite Disneyland treat?

Jordyn: Churros!

Jenn: Who is your favorite Disneyland character?

Jordyn: I love all the princesses but I'd say recently Rupunzel is my favorite and I kinda feel like her being trapped in my house! lol But Pocahontas is also a long time favorite, she's cool and I kinda look like her. :)

Jenn: What are you currently watching to occupy your time?

Jordyn: I've been watching lots of Disney+. I've been rewatching all of my favorite childhood shows and movies.

Jenn: When this pandemic is over and we're "released" into the world, what's the first thing you're going to do?

Jordyn: The first thing I'm going to do is go out to eat! That might sound dumb but I really enjoy a good meal at my favorite local restaurants. Also, I've promised myself I won't complain anymore about there being nothing to do in this county anymore because I've been taught that there are things I wish I could do but haven't been able to.

When Tayla and I first starting talking about her senior photo shoot I knew she wanted to go out of town and I knew it would be something completely new and special. Being a competitive hip hop dancer I was excited to see what ideas Tayla would come up with and I knew it had to be about dance and her cool vibe style! I was excited to get to spend the day with her and her Mom in San Francisco. It was a highly anticipated trip as we had to reschedule several times. The first time Tayla had gotten very sick and following that we got caught up in the mess of the PG&E outages. There was no way any of us wanted to go into the city when there was no power! Finally we got a day free to go only to have a 90% chance of rain...and rain it did! But we were able to get Tayla's shots in front of the Golden Gate bridge before it got too stormy. Here's what Tayla had to say about her senior model shoot and this year's experience. Tayla's hair and makeup by Beauty by Kelsey Lane.

Jenn: Tayla what location did you choose for your senior shoot?

Tayla: San Francisco

Jenn: Why did you choose this location? What inspired you or was important about it to you?

Tayla: It reminds me of my home in Australia in some ways and I love being by the beach. The feeling of the city fits me well.

Jenn: Where did you get your clothes for the shoot?

Tayla: I honestly just wore my own clothes I already had in my closet, oh and my sister's. lol I also got some pieces from American Eagle.

Jenn: What is your favorite memory of your senior shoot day?

Tayla: It was raining all day! I was glad I chose to go to the aquarium, it was inside and amazing! Oh, and we bought donuts on Pier 39 and had to run back to the car in the pouring rain!

Jenn: What advice would you give to the class of 2021?

Tayla: My advice would be to not take any part of high school for granted because everything goes by super fast especially senior year. (and not to sound cheesy) but cherish the big moments!

Jenn: Thinking back to this senior year BEFORE Covid19 hit, what is your favorite memory?

Tayla: My dance competitions were my favorite, and the night rally during homecoming week.

Jenn: At this moment in time what are you most grateful for?

Tayla: My family, friends and my dance family!

Jenn: Who's your favorite Disney character?

Tayla: Donald Duck!

Jenn: Favorite Disneyland snack?

Tayla: Churros!

Jenn: What are you currently watching to occupy your time at home?

Tayla: Netflix, Disney Plus, Amazon Prime

Jenn: When the quarantine is lifted and we are able to go back to our regular life routine what are you going to do first?

Tayla: Go to DANCE!
